Our goal today was to see if we could get our rat to 300 responses on the FR 5 schedule. Yesterday we only achieved 273 responses.
Procedure:
We cleaned the cage then placed Captain Kirk in. Once Captain Kirk was in we put the shield on and then observed her actions.
Results:
Today she only pressed the lever 270 times which is 3 less than the day before. She seemed to stay on a pretty constant time scale today but just did not do it enough to pass our required 300 bar presses. After each reinforcement she would usually take a break and wonder off to the far corner.
Discussion:
Today we felt that she just was not motivated and also she seemed to be getting distracted today. Her frequency of presses seemed to stay pretty constant through this training session but in the end it was just not enough to move her up to the next schedule. Our plan now is to continue FR 5 for our final training day. We hope that on her last training day she can achieve her goal so we can end on a high note.
