Captain's Log Day 0001: Meeting Captain Kirk

Captain Kirk is a Long-Evans rat. One note though is that even though Captain Kirk is a male name our Captain Kirk is a female. We decided on the name Captain Kirk because I am a Star Trek fan and have wanted to name one of my pets Captain Kirk for a long time. Fortunately my partner was fine with the idea. My thoughts about handling Captain Kirk before our initial encounter were that it would be an interesting experience and I was pretty sure that I would be able to handle her without much trouble. My partner on the other hand was a little bit nervous about handling her but has since gotten a little better. Personally I have enjoyed the experience of handling Captain Kirk and while she seems to be hyper and extremely curious about her environment I have had no problems in handling her.
